International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code)

The ISPS Code becomes mandatory on the 1st July 2004. The objective of the code is to provide an international framework that enables co-operation between governments, local agencies, shipping and port facilities, to detect security threats and take preventative measures.

One of the implications of the code is that all vessels of 500GT and greater on international voyages must provide the arrival port at least 24 hours in advance with a completed proforma detailing the security status of the vessel and previous ports of call.

To do this Masters (or their Agents) must complete and submit a “Ship Pre–Arrival Information Proforma”. A copy of this form can be downloaded by right clicking either link below and selecting Save Target As.
