Oil Basin
The Oil Basin is located in Avonmouth Dock and handles most oil products (e.g. petrol, kerosene, diesel etc.) and other substances e.g. carbon black, molasses and vegetable oils. A marine representative, who will provide relevant safety information to the master, meets all vessels arriving in the Oil Basin. Cargo operations are not allowed to commence until the vessel port information exchange has taken place. The Oil Basin has strict procedures for the berthing of vessels and the discharge/ loading of products. These procedures are derived from the following safety policy.
