Agricultural Bulk Services (Bristol) Ltd (ABS) operates as a wholly owned division of The Bristol Port Company.

The division, located at Royal Portbury Dock, provides storage services for bulk agricultural feedstuffs.

Physical Parameters

The Bulk Terminal occupies two berths, 5 and 6, with a continuous quay of 600m. Both berths can accommodate capesize vessels of up to 130,000 tonnes deadweight with a draught of 14.5m.

Undercover Storage

Product is stored within four linked bulk warehouses with a combined capacity of 200,000 tonnes. Each warehouse is split into a number of bays using moveable bulk retaining walls allowing effective and safe separation of different products. Bays are filled using overhead conveyors from the quayside.

Redelivery to road transport is carried out within the warehouses by front end loader. Road transport tares in and out across dedicated weighbridges at the entrance and exit of the terminal with all lorries sheeting prior to exit.

  • 2 x Kone Grab Cranes with discharge rate of 2,400 tonnes per hour.
  • 1 Shiploader capable of 2,000 tonnes per hour.

Administration

All administration is undertaken within offices adjacent to the warehouses with stock control and weighing records linked direct to the weighbridges.
