There are two grain terminals within Bristol Port, one at Royal Portbury Dock and one at Avonmouth Dock.
The Portbury terminal is designed to load vessels up to panamax vessels of 70,000 tonnes dead weight. Vessels are loaded at a speed of up to 2,000 tonnes per hour. Storage includes four rapid discharge silos with a capacity of 6,000 tonnes.
The facility has been built with rapid vehicle turn around in mind. With our computer controlled system we can receive grain at 1,000 tonnes per hour which either conveys to ship, flat storage or silo. The terminal is currently exclusively used by Grainfarmers plc.
At Avonmouth vessels can be accommodated up to 5,000 tonnes dead weight at J berth which has 3,000 tonnes of flat storage adjacent to the berth. Loading is carried out by two B&W conveyors rated at 250 and 450 tonnes per hour. This facility is open to all users.
