Sub Nav
Bristol Port offers a number of different options for the import or export of project cargo and heavy lift cargos.
ACT Gantry Cranes
Located within the secure Avonmouth Container Terminal there are two wide span gantry cranes capable of lifting cargo between road transport, rail, compound and vessel.
Within the compound project cargos can be laid out in preparation for inland delivery or vessel loading.
There is a lift capacity of 60 metric tonnes at the terminal.
Rail Mounted Harbour Mobile Crane
Located adjacent to the container terminal the port operates a rail mounted Gottwald HSK 260 EG with a maximum lift capacity of 100 metric tonnes.
Cargo is brought forward to under hook by mafi or road transport from storage areas.
150 mt Floating Crane
The port operates a 150 metric tonne (mt) capacity floating crane that is normally berthed at Avonmouth Docks but if required can be moved to Royal Portbury Dock.
RPD Gantry Cranes
Although projects are predominantly carried out at Avonmouth Docks it is possible, if required because of ship size for example, to carry out projects at Royal Portbury Dock. There are three gantry cranes with lift capacity up to 60 metric tonnes.
Over recent years the port has carried out a number of operations including:
- Export of second hand factory plant e.g. Avonmouth Rhodia chemical plant and Longbridge Rover plant.
- Import and export of power station transformers and turbines for various power generators.
- Export of 60mt mining shields for an Australian mining project.
- Export of oil and gas equipment for various projects worldwide.
- Import of wind turbines for various projects.
The port looks forward to discussing any project requirements with potential customers.
