She was built in 2018 and is fuelled by LNG (Liquified Natural Gas). By using LNG ships, considerable improvements in local air quality can be made such as cutting NOX by 80% and almost eliminating SOX and particulate matter.

Bristol Port has been developing a Clean Air strategy this year, that gives the opportunity to build on existing environmental initiatives. 35% of its electricity already derives from three 2-megawatt wind turbines on Avonmouth Dock and the port continues to take significant steps to be more energy efficient. In January, the port invested in zero-emission eVans and eBikes, which promote cleaner air quality and provide a sustainable means of travel, allowing staff to move around the dock estate with reduced emissions and carbon footprint whilst promoting health and well-being.

Shipping in itself is by far the most energy efficient means of moving large volumes of freight compared to other transport modes and ports provide energy efficient multimodal transport. The number of ships using LNG as a fuel is increasing fast and Bristol Port looks forward to these vessels becoming a more frequent sight in the future.
