Weather Warning 16.02.22

Major winter storm to coincide with high spring tides. Currently Amber warning has been issued but it is at the top end of high impacts. Potential for a Red Warning to be issued on 17 February 2022.  Currently surge expected around Portbury Dock of 2.8 metre (subject to further models being run).

Peak Winds from 0300hrs – 1500hrs Friday 18th Feb.  Inland winds 60 – 80mph. Coastal winds 80 -90 mph. Gale Force 8 -10. Possibility of Violent Storm 11. Winds starting from SW and gradually working through to NW. Highest winds expected in Bristol Channel. They will be expecting to issue several flood alerts and flood warnings. Wind speed will slowly reduce throughout the afternoon.

Coastal flooding expected all along Somerset Coast.

Significant travel disruption expected. Potential threat to life. Possible bridge closures, mobile homes overturned, risk to temporary structures etc. Likely tree damage.
