HRH The Princess Royal visits Bristol Port

HRH, The Princess Royal paid a socially distanced visit to The Bristol Port Company  to meet key workers who have continued to keep the nation supplied during the Covid-19 pandemic. Amongst the staff presented to The Princess Royal were Port operatives who have worked at the Port for 40 years, Apprentices who have just passed their final year and leading members of the Port’s local community organisations.

On arrival The Princess Royal was greeted by Managing Director Sir David Ord and Chairman Terence Mordaunt, along with Maritime UK Board Member Tim Morris, before embarking on board the Port’s state of the art plough vessel Graham Robertson, where Her Royal Highness met with the three members of crew. Chief Executive David Brown OBE and Harbour Master Jerry Stanford were also on board to provide a guided tour of a thriving Avonmouth and Royal Edward Docks, which was officially opened by The Princess Royal’s Great, Great Grandfather in 1908.
