In the community

We do a lot to support the community - from creating jobs to contributing money and time to good causes and looking after the environment across the Port Estate

Charitable support - more than £1 million spent on good causes

There are two main ways we support good causes.  Firstly if local groups need teams of volunteers to work on a project we can often organise a team of our employees to paint walls, dig ditches, refurbish community centres and generally get hands-on to help a local project.

Secondly, some good causes need financial donations.  We have a fund worth over £600,000 which is managed by the Quartet Community Foundation and which we spend on local good causes. Over 100,000 people have been supported by the Port's fund and mostly towards causes close to the Port such as Lawrence Weston Out of School Activities group. LAWOOSA help children engage in positive, stimulating and fun activities after school. Parents have confidence leaving their children in a safe, nurturing environment and supporting families on low incomes or benefits.

The company regularly tops up the fund as well as adding donations from groups we take on tours of the Port, many of whom are kind enough to make a donation. We focus this financial support on good causes in our local areas - Portbury, Pill and Easton-in-Gordano, Avonmouth, Lawrence Weston, Shirehampton and Severnside.  We also support a range of charities that help seafarers including the Port of Bristol Seafarers' Centre which helps thousands of visiting seafarers each year. If you are involved with a good cause which fits these criteria and think we might be able to help, get in touch by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]. They can also be contacted on +44 (0)117 982 0000.

We also support SevernNet, a new enterprise that brings together businesses and community enterprises from Portbury, Avonmouth and Severnside.
